Professor at Heriot-Watt University since 1998. Formerly worked at the Universities of Manchester, Glasgow and the West of Scotland. Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Property Research. Trustee of Shelter 1990-2007.

Research interests cover: Commercial and Industrial Property Markets Housing Market Economics Economics of Housing Policy Urban Economics and Policy Urban Sustainability Research has been supported by EPSRC, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Scottish Parliament, Department of Communities and Local Government, National Housing and Planning Advice Unit and others.
