Biography
I completed both my BA and PhD at the University of Sheffield, in the Sociology Department. I then worked, between 1993 and 1998, as a lecturer in the sociology and philosophy of psychiatry, at the Centre for Psychotherapeutic Studies (part of the Dept of Psychiatry) at Sheffield. I joined Manchester Sociology in Sept 1998, as a lecturer, and worked my way through the ranks, becoming a professor in 2005. I was head of sociology at Manchester between summer 2007 and summer 2010. Since stepping down I have had a number of other admin roles. Currently I am the sociology rep for the School of Social Science's BA Econ degree.
