Eric Alton

Biography

Eric Alton is Professor of Gene Therapy and Respiratory Medicine, National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London and Honorary Consultant Physician, Royal Brompton Hospital Professor Alton was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge and Westminster Medical School and subsequently undertook six years of general medical training. Over the last fifteen years, he has been involved in developing gene therapy for cystic fibrosis and angiogenesis, including three clinical trials. Professor Alton coordinates the UK CF Gene Therapy Consortium which brings together the three centres in the UK (Edinburgh and Oxford Universities and Imperial College), including approximately 80 clinicians and scientists focused on this problem.
