Biography
Esmita is the academic research pharmacist at the National Institute of Health Research Health Protection Research Unit in Healthcare Associated Infection and Antimicrobial Resistance. The HPRU is a partnership between Imperial College London, Public Health England, Cambridge University Veterinary School, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Imperial College Health Partners North West London Academic Health Science Network. Esmita is currently undertaking her PhD at the centre. The title of her PhD is culture and team dynamics in the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship interventions. She is an investigator in a National Institute of Health Research Invention for Innovation award investigating the development and use of a point of care personalized clinical decision support tool for antimicrobial prescribing. In addition, Esmita is a visiting researcher at Haukeland University in Norway where she has been involved in the implementation of the national Norwegian antimicrobial stewardship programme. Throughout her time at Imperial the focus of Esmita's research has been behaviour change interventions in the field of antimicrobial stewardship and the role of mobile health technologies to influence decision making.
