She trained at Oxford University before completing her cardiology training in London at University College Hospital where she gained a PhD in ‘infective organisms and atherosclerosis’. She spent 2 years at Columbia Medical Center in New York, USA as a Advanced Echocardiography Research Fellow working on the Northern Manhattan Stroke Study.
