Biography
John’s professional career started at Durham County Council where he was responsible for the design and construction of civil engineering structures. John then moved to Newcastle University and held the position of Professor at universities in Australia and Japan. John was a Specialist Assessor in Civil Engineering for the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and is a member of the BSI Standards Sub-Committee, B/525/9, ‘Structural use of Aluminum.’ John is and has been a member of editorial boards for international journals and conferences advises publishers on book proposals and referees papers for journals and conferences. He has given keynote lectures at conferences and provided industrial consultancy services.
Research Interest
Design of aluminium shells, UK hardwood importing, Analysis of the engineering, historical, sociological and community reactions into how local communities responded to the major infrastructure development of the early railways.
