Biography
After earning his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley Casto Vocal worked in video game development for fifteen years as a Senior Environment Artist for companies such as Crystal Dynamics, Sega, Electronic Arts, Activision, and Oddworld. His most significant work is with the Soul Reaver and Secret Level / Sega SF teams.Returning to Berkeley in 2011 he began his research for the Master of Art in Design with a focus on visualisation, heritage and Andean archaeology.
Research Interest
Casto's research interest includes Digital Heritage, Andean Archaeology, and Game Narrative & Empathy. Presently Casto is developing a virtual environment in collaboration with Archaeology Professor Christine Hastorf. This project traces the development of the Chiripa Monitculo Mound on the southern shores of Lake Titicaca in Bolivia. This work will build upon the previous Chiripa visualisations presented at the 2016 Institute of Andean Studies Annual Meeting.
