Biography
Sajid Abdullah is Course Leader for the MEng/BEng Mechanical Engineering programmes. Sajid began his career at Teesside University in 2003, when he was involved as a lead design consultant with the B2B Manufacturing Centre, a joint European funded project with Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), and was later appointed as Senior Lecturer in Engineering and Automotive Design within School of Science & Engineering (SSE) in 2010. He has been actively involved in the development of curriculum and teaching material, as well as teaching a number of modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, such as Computer-Aided Analysis, Engineering Design and CAD, CADCAM & Product Development, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and he has actively engaged and mentored final year project dissertation students to make them more employable, with a view to progression to internships, Collaborative Innovations Projects (CIPs) or Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP’s). Sajid holds external examining positions at UK Universities to ensure institutions are maintaining the expectation of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education. Sajid also has valuable overseas international teaching practice and experience, working closely with our Chinese collaborative partners. He has acted as reviewer for the international FAIM conference, published by Elsevier.
Research Interest
Sajid's current areas of interest are: The tools used to improve productivity within a manufacturing environment. Rapid Product Development & Rapid Prototyping (3D Printing), Reverse Engineering and Inspection Techniques using both Laser and contact Scanning, Simulation using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Design for “X”, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Member with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and a Fellow in The Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He holds the professional status of Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP).
