Biography
Dr Hazel Melanie Ramos is an Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. She is he school's Senior Tutor and Director for Teaching. Hazel is also programme manager for the MSc in Management Psychology. Hazel completed her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines Diliman, followed by an MA in Psychology major in Counseling at the Ateneo De Manila University in the Philippines. She completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology also at Ateneo de Manila University on the life experiences of adolescents with chronic life threatening illness. In 2012, she obtained her Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) from the University of Nottingham. Hazel is a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a member of various associations suchas the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychologists, International Family Enterprise Research Academy, American Psychological Association (International Affiliate) and the Psychological Assocation of the Philippines. Hazel has also worked as a researcher and volunteer for both industrial and clinical organizations. She is a volunteer psychologist for the Philippine Children's Medical Center's hospice programme where she help set up a play school for children undergoing cancer treatment. She also volunteered as a speaker/counselor for UGAT Foundation Inc. where she helped in programmes for migrant workers and teachers. Hazel has taught several degree courses in psychology including organisational psychology, selection and training, experimental psychology, personality theories, research methods, and psychological testing. Hazel's wide research interest has led her to do research on several areas such as work family conflicts, work-life balance, stress and burnout among allied medical professionals, occupational health of migrant workers and psychological ownership in family firms. Hazel also does research in the areas of internationalisation of family firms as well as expatriate adjustment.
