Biography
After studying at Oxford Medical School, Ami trained as a junior doctor in several hospitals across the NHS. With a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University and a DPhil from Oxford, his expertise lies in epidemiology and public health, particularly relating to cardiovascular disease. Ami has published on diverse topics from global health and medical education to vascular disease and patent law, and has acted as an advisor to the Cardiovascular Diseases Division at the World Health Organization. He is a Medical Advisor for the Health Impact Fund (www.healthimpactfund.com), a novel proposal to incentivize the development and delivery of new medicines by paying drug companies for the health impact of their medicines. Ami has been Clinical Lecturer in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Birmingham since March 2011, spending his time between cardiology, research and teaching. He joined UCLAN as a Senior Research Fellow in 2014 as a co-applicant on the REWARD project, funded by the European Research Council.
