Biography
Harry Hao-Xiang Wang joined General Practice and Primary Care as an affiliate member of staff in June 2013, working with Professor Stewart Mercer on primary care research focused on multimorbidity in Scotland and Hong Kong/China. He was supported by the fellowship awarded under the Hong Kong-Scotland Partners in Post Doctoral Research for 2012/13 launched by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in collaboration with the Scottish Government. Harry Haoxiang is a Professional Member of the International Society of Hypertension (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (UK). He gained a PhD in Public Health with ‘The Best Ph.D. Thesis Award (2012)’ at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in Hong Kong in October 2012, and was immediately appointed as Lecturer in the same year. He received an award under CUHK Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence (2010-11) to carry out research on primary care at the Department of Primary Health Care, University of Oxford, UK as a Visiting Scholar. Harry HX Wang currently serves as a Member in the General Practitioner (Family Doctor)-contracted Service Expert Advisory Panel for the Guangdong-provincial Health and Family Planning Commission (HFPC), P.R. China, to advise primary care development. He has acted as a contributor in several medical textbooks, including a book chapter on Developing Primary Care in China in Routledge Handbook of Global Public Health in East Asia (Taylor & Francis/Routledge 2014), and also a few Chinese translation editions of book chapters from McGraw-Hill Medical Books, including Maxcy-Rosenau-Last Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Family Medicine: Ambulatory Care and Prevention. He is now an Associate Professor at the School of Public Health, Sun Yat-Sen University, P.R. China, where he is conducting health systems/services research and clinical trials, with a particular focus on primary health care and multimorbidity.
