Biography

Miss Nasreen Majid is currently working as a Lecturer in Primary Mathematics in the Department of Institute of Education, University of Reading , United Kingdom. Responsibilities: Institute of Education Responsibilities: • Director of the BA Education (QTS) Programme • BA Ed Curriculum Mathematics Teaching to Year 1, 2 and 3 • IoE Writing group convenor • Masters Supervision • BA Ed Advanced Teaching Dissertation (ATP) convenor and supervision • School supervision on the BA Ed programme • Guest lecturer on various ITT and MA programmes • Mentor on the Academic Practice Programme (APP) • Member of the Equity, Improvement and Leadership research group • Member of the Institute of Education Ethics Committee Main Teaching Responsibilities: • BA Ed Years 1, 2 and 3 Curriculum Mathematics. • Guest lecturer on the Primary and Secondary PGCE • Guest lecturer on the MA programme Current and Recent Research Projects: • Educational Doctoral Student - Part 2 • My working title is: How do primary teachers in England develop their professional identities as mathematics specialists? Prior to this I worked in Primary schools, where I taught for fourteen years. My experience in a range of roles in Schools has included teaching in the Early Years, Key Stages 1, 2 3. Additionally, I have had wider school leadership responsibilities as: Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), Mathematics Co-ordinator, Assessment Co-ordinator, Advanced Skills Teacher, Assistant Head teacher and Deputy Head teacher. It has been an absolute privilege working in very diverse schools, mainly in urban settings. The bulk of my teaching experiences have been in London, UK. I have also worked at the British International School (BIS) in Jakarta, Indonesia. I led the teaching and learning of mathematics during my time at BIS. At the University of Reading, I am the Director of the BA Education (QTS) programme and I also work with our trainee teachers to develop their teaching and learning of mathematics in Primary Schools.
