Biography
Born and educated in Manchester,He studied Chemistry at UCW Aberystwyth, before embarking on his career at St Andrews University. He began as geochemical analyst in Geology, then morphed into Computing officer and then Research Administrator for the School of Geography & Geosciences. During this time he embarked on a part-time M.Sc. degree and also carried out research part-time on the geochemistry of fossil volcanic ashes (bentonites) in northern Europe. The discovery of tuffs in Proterozoic sequences led to a Research Fellowship under Tony Prave and funded by The Leverhulme Trust, which uncovered further evidence of volcanism in the Torridonian.
Research Interest
bentonites and the occasional foray into trace fossils.
