Biography
James Pritchett is professor in Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at Colorado State University from 2013. He has done his PhD in Agriculture and Applied Economics from University of Minnesota (1999). He has completed his MS in Agricultural Economics at Colorado State University (1995). He has served as Associate Professor in department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, at Colorado State University from July 2007–June 2013.
Research Interest
James Pritchett research and outreach effort targets applied economic issues important to stakeholders in Colorado agriculture and throughout the West. Most recently, focus has been placed on water resources: how farms might make the best use of limited water resources, the economic activity generated by irrigated agriculture in rural regional economies, and the perceptions that households have for water use. Additionally, effort has been invested in understanding if crop insurance is an effective risk management tool for dryland wheat farmers, the economics of animal disease, and creating business plans for small and medium sized businesses.
