Biography
Dr. Fred G. Volinsky, M.D. is Co-Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Epiphany Biosciences, Inc. Dr. Volinsky is the Founder CoTherix, Inc. He served as the President at RCT BioVentures West. He joined RCT in 2000. Prior to joining RCT BioVentures West, he served at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Volinsky also founded three companies: PediCall, Myometrix, and Exhale Therapeutics. In addition, he developed a medical device that he licensed to Moser Medical and has been a Consultant for venture funds including UNC Ventures and Canaan Partners. He also serves as the Chairman of Kerberos Proximal Solutions. He is a Director of Cyternex. He served as a Director of Cylene Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Catalyst Biosciences Inc., and Imagine Pharmaceuticals Inc. Dr. Volinsky was a Faculty Member at the Harvard Residency in Emergency Medicine and at the Harvard Department of Emergency Medicine. In 1992, he joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School and the attending staff of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Prior to this, Dr. Volinsky became an Attending Physician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services Medical School in Bethesda. He completed his internship at Tripler Army Medical Center and his residency in emergency medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center. He aspires to promote the entrepreneurial spirit among academic and research institutions. He is a member of the Association for University Technology Managers. Dr. Volinsky has lectured at UCLA's Anderson School of Business and has served as a mentor for the MIT 50K contest. He is also Co-Chairman of the Stanford Bio Bootcamp. Dr. Volinsky earned his Medical Degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
