Biography
Dr. Bradley T. Sheares, Ph.D., served as the Chief Executive Officer of Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from January 2007 to December 2007. Dr. Sheares served as the President of U.S. Human Health Division of Merck & Co., Inc. from March 2001 to July 2006 and served as its President of USHH Operations since September 1, 2005, where he was responsible for one of the two prescription drug divisions (hospital and specialty product franchises). He was responsible for the U.S. sales force that calls on office-based physicians, sales services and medical and scientific affairs. He served as a Vice President of Hospital Marketing and Sales at USHH, since July 1998. He served as Vice President of Anti-Infectives Therapeutic Business Group, USHH since May 1996. He has extensive Board leadership experience in a wide range of public companies. Dr. Sheares served as the Chairman of National Pharmaceutical Council and serves as its Vice Chairman. He has been an Independent Director of Henry Schein, Inc. since January 2010.; Progressive Corp. since August 22, 2003; Honeywell Imaging and Mobility, Inc. since 2004, Honeywell International Inc. since September 27, 2004 and Covance Inc. since February 2009. He serves as a Director of Honeywell Aerospace Inc. He has been a Director of IMS Health Inc. since April 21, 2009. Dr. Sheares serves as a Director of Spelman College and Pennsylvania Business Roundtable. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Council for Montclair State University. He served as a Director at Iroko Pharmaceuticals Inc., since February 2014. He served as a Director of Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He joined Merck in 1987 as a Research Fellow at the Merck Institute for Therapeutic Research and moved to the U.S. sales and marketing organization in 1990. He served as Director of IMS Health Holdings, Inc. since April 21, 2009. He is a Member of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia and the Executive Leadership Council. He included on Fortune magazine's "Most Powerful Black Executives" list. He has postdoctoral education as a Lucille P. Markey Scholar and NIH Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Sheares holds summa cum laude with a B.A. in Chemistry from Fisk University in 1978 and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Purdue University in 1982.
