Kathy Wengel is Worldwide Vice President & Chief Supply Chain Officer for Johnson & Johnson. She is a member of the company’s Management Committee, and a management representative on the Regulatory Compliance & Government Affairs Committee, and the Science, Technology & Sustainability Committee of the J&J Board of Directors. Kathy has direct responsibility for all aspects of Supply Chain for J&J’s three business sectors: Consumer, Medical Devices, and Pharmaceuticals. This includes planning, sourcing, manufacturing (internal and external), distribution, customer service, and supply chain strategy and deployment. She also has corporate-wide responsibility for the functions of Quality & Compliance; Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability; and Engineering & Property Services, including Real Estate, Facilities, and Capital project management. Kathy leads ~45% of J&J’s global workforce, and the supply chain organization brings more than 350,000 healthcare products to consumers and patients around the world and fulfills more than 100,000 customer orders every day. During Kathy’s 29-year tenure with Johnson & Johnson, she has held a variety of strategic leadership and executive positions, with increasing responsibility, across the enterprise, including operations, quality, new products, engineering, technical and business roles. She is a strong developer of globally diverse teams and has spent half of her career living and working outside of the U.S. Prior to Kathy’s current role, she was the Vice President, Quality & Compliance (Q&C) and the first Chief Quality Officer for Johnson & Johnson. During the four years she spent in this role, she had enterprise leadership responsibility for Q&C, Sterility Assurance and Operations Readiness & Convergence. Kathy also led the creation of an enterprise Quality & Compliance organization that focused on improving and standardizing Q&C across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies. In 2009, Kathy co-led the design of J&J’s enterprise Supply Chain operating model. And since its inception, she has served on and now leads the J&J Supply Chain Leadership Team. Kathy serves externally as Vice Chairman of the GS1 Global Management Board, a non-profit organization that sets and maintains global standards to enable the exchange of critical data and business communication. She also sits on the SCM World Future of Healthcare Board, and the AWESOME Advisory Board. Kathy is the executive sponsor for J&J’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and the leader of J&J’s Women in Science Technology, Math, Manufacturing and Design (WiSTEM2D) program. She was recognized by the National Association of Female Executives (NAFE) through their Women of Excellence Award in 2015, was the recipient of AWESOME’s Legendary Leadership Award in 2014, and received the 2015 Thinkers & Movers Awardfor innovative leadership by DSC Logistics in conjunction with the CSCMP annual meeting. Kathy has a BSE degree in civil engineering and operations research from Princeton University.
