Biography

    Dr. Susan A. Henry, B.Sc. (Zoology), Ph.D.(Genetics), serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Metropolitan Investment. Dr. Henry has been Dean of College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York since July 2000. She was the head of the Department of Biological Sciences, dean of the Mellon College of Science and a university professor. She serves as a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Cellomics, Inc. and the Advisory Board of BioEconomy Partners. She has been an Independent Director for Seneca Foods Corp. since 2007 and Tompkins Trust Company since May 2010. She serves as a Corporate Director of Metropolitan Investment. She has been an Independent Director of Tompkins Financial Corporation since May 2010. She served as an Independent Director at Agrium Inc, since September 27, 2001 until May 4, 2016. She has been on the editorial boards of Current Chemical Biology, The Journal of Biological Chemistry and Molecular and Cellular. She served as Chair of the National Institutes of Health Advisory Committee on Research on Minority Health. She serves as a Member of the National Research Council Committee on Science and Technology to Support Health Care, Sustainability and Other Aspects of Development Assistance. She serves as a Member of the Committee on Election to Fellowship, American Academy of Microbiology. A respected author of numerous articles and publications on biochemistry and genetics, she has received many honors and awards, including Honorary American FFA Degree from the National FFA Organization, Major Contributor in Research and Education Award from the New York Wine and Grape Foundation, NIH MERIT Award and election to Sigma Xi and Phi Beta Kappa. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology. She holds a bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. degree in genetics from the University of California at Berkeley.
