Biography
Dr. Steven Ostrow is a magna cum laude graduate of Brown University (BA) and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (MD). Dr. Ostrow was appointed Director of Undergraduate Education within the Department of Radiology after completing his residency at Downstate and obtaining ABR certification in radiology. An excellent educator in the tradition of Dr. Lucy Squire, Dr. Ostrow was named "Outstanding Educator of the Year of the Clinical Faculty" by the 1998 graduating class. In 2000, he was awarded faculty membership in Apha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In 2001, he was named "Teacher of the Year" by the class of 2003 for his efforts using radiology to teach gross anatomy to this class when they were first year students. In 2002 he was again named “Outstanding Educator of the Year of the Clinical Faculty” by the graduating class of the College of Medicine. In 2006, he again received the “Teacher of the Year” award from the first year class of Medical Students (Class of 2009). Dr. Ostrow also serves as the primary faculty adviser for medical students applying for radiology residency, and as a faculty mentor for first year medical students. He holds a joint appointment on the faculty of the Department of Cell Biology (formerly the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology). Dr. Ostrow also has special training in Ultrasonography and is actively involved in this clinical service.
