Biography
Dr. Randy Wadkins is Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry at The University of Mississippi. He has done his B.S. from University of Mississippi, Ph.D. from University of Mississippi, NIH Predoctoral Fellowship from University of Mississippi and Max Plank Gesellschaft Postdoctoral Fellow in Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Goettingen, Germany, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and AAAS S&T Congressional Fellow. He is currently working on a “third generation” of camptothecins that are superior in activity to the clinically-used 2nd generation agents CPT-11 (Irinotecan) and topotecan (Hycamtin) just as these agents are superior to the parent camptothecin.
Research Interest
Biophysical chemistry, molecular dynamics, fluorescence microscopy and imaging, DNA structure and structural transitions, biosensors
