Biography

Studies: BS; Chemistry, University of the Orange Free State, South Africa PhD, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, University of the Free State, South Africa Current Research: trans-Pterocarpans are unknown to occur naturally in nature, and is believed by many in the field to not be synthetically producible.  However, the molecular similarity between them and the basic hormonal skeletal structure, makes these molecules interesting synthetic targets. It is hoped to, not only clarify a synthetic approach to this class of compounds, but also to develop an enantioselective synthetic protocol.
