Biography

 1994: graduates in Biological Sciences at the University of Florence discussing an experimental thesis titled "Role of Th1 and Th2 Cells in Polyclonal B Activation in HIV Infection". - 1994: Winner of a three-year scholarship awarded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) by submitting a research project entitled "Th1 and Th2 Lymphocytes: Their Role in Physiology and Anti-Cancer Response". - 1995: winner of a prize for best oral communication at the XIV National Congress of the Italian Society of Immunology and Immunopathology. - 1995: supports and passes the state examination for the qualification of the profession of biologist and is regularly registered with the National Biological Register since 1996. - 1996: attends a "stage" study at the University of Cologne (Germany), host of Prof. Andreas Radbruch, funded by the European Science Foundation (Network HLA and Allergy), in order to refine and acquire new techniques of intracitoplasmic cytophyfluimetry . - 1997: attends a "stage" of study and refinement on the new cytofluorometry techniques at the University of Berlin (Germany), host of Prof. Andreas Radbruch, funded by the European Science Foundation (Network HLA and Allergy). -1997: attends a theoretical-practical "stage" in Milan of cell sorting techniques by flow cytometry - 1999: holds the title of Doctor of Clinical Immunology Research, with the highest marks, discussing a thesis titled "Chemiquin Receptors and Other Surface Molecules Associated with Th1 and Th2 Human Cells". - 1999: winner of a Research Certificate awarded by the University of Florence (Biomedical Area, Institute of Internal Medicine and Immune Allergies) to carry out a project titled "Immune System and Defense Against Neoplasms". - 2000: Attends a theoretical-practical "stage" in Erembodegem (Belgium) of advanced cytometric techniques for multiparametric analyzes (BD-LSR citofluorimeter). - 2000: winner of the Scientific Prize entitled Professor GB Rossi for the best Italian work published in 1999-2000 concerning the theme of HIV infection and interactions with the Immune System (Francesco Annunziato et al . "Limited expression of R5-tropic HIV-1 in CCR5-positive Th1-polarized T cells Explained by Their ability to produce RANTES, MIP-1α and MIP-1β. Blood 95 (4): 1167-74. 2000 ) - 2002: On November 1, he becomes a second-tier professor in the disciplinary disciplinary field Med-04 (General Pathology) at the faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence. - 2003: joins the Guarantors Committee of the new Master's Degree in Medical Biotechnology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence - 2004: organizes and becomes responsible for the curriculum in rehabilitation / regenerative medicine of the biennial specialist of the degree program in medical biotechnology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Florence -  2005: is elected member of the Jury of the Degree Course in Biotechnology - 2005: becomes "Member of the Evaluation Board for the RHEUMATOLOGY & CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY FACULTY of the Faculty of Thousand in Medicine. - 2008: Member of the Committee for the Teaching of the Degree Course in Biotechnology at the University of Florence - 2008: Member of the Self-Assessment Group of the Degree Course in Biotechnology at the University of Florence - 2009 : joins the editorial board of European Journal of Immunology, the official journal of the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) - 2010 : becomes director of the SOD regenerative therapies of the Careggi Hospital Hospitals Company, AOUC - 2010 : Became a Review Editor in Frontiers in Pro-inflammatory Cytokines, the Frontiers Research Foundation's scientific journal - 2011 : elected Member of the Board of the Immunology Section of the European Accademia of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) - 2011 : Member of the Foreign Relations & Finance Committee of the 15th International Congress of Immunology, Milan 2013 - 2011 : is elected Vice President of Biotechnology Interfaculty Degree Course - 2012 : is elected member of the editorial board of the PloS ONE scientific journal - 2012 : is elected member of the   Henry Kunkel Society - 2012 : Elected President of the Biotechnology Interdepartmental Degree Course for the four-year period 2012-2016

Research Interest

His research interests are directed towards topics of Allergology, Immunology, Oncology, Hematology and other physiopathological areas of the General Human Pathology.  Immunology studies should include those relating to the physiology of subpopulation of T lymphocytes and their ontogenesis, co-operation between human T and B lymphocytes in the response to antigen, the study of active B cell cytokines, nature studies functional clonal T lymphocytes and, in particular, T 'helper cell humanity with different functional capacities (Th1, Th2 and Th17 lymphocytes) and their in vitro and in vivo modulability by numerous microenvironment signals.
