Ganguk Hwang

Biography

He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph. D. degrees in Mathematics (Applied Probability) from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Republic of Korea, in 1991, 1993 and 1997, respectively. From February 1997 to March 2000, he was with Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, Republic of Korea, where he was involved in developing ATM-based access node systems and MPLS systems. From March 2000 to February 2002, he was a visiting scholar at theDepartment of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, University of Missouri - Kansas City, USA. Since March 2002, he has been with the Department of Mathematical Sciences (formerly, Division of Applied Mathematics) and Telecommunication Engineering Program at KAIST, where he is currently a Professor. From August 2010 to July 2011, he had his sabbatical leave at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Washington, Seattle, USA. My research interests include teletraffic theory and performance evaluation of communication systems, quality of service provisioning for wired/wireless communication networks and cross-layer design for wireless networks.
