Biography
Daniel J. Hilferty is president and chief executive officer of Independence Blue Cross, one of the nation’s leading health insurers. Since Mr. Hilferty became CEO in 2010, the number of people the company and its affiliates serve has tripled to nearly 8.5 million in 25 states and Washington, D.C., including more than 2.5 million in southeastern Pennsylvania. Mr Hilferty has held many distinguished positions throughout his career. Mr. Hilferty’s career includes serving as a Senior Vice President of Corporate and Government Affairs at Mercy Health Corporation in Bala Cynwyd, PA as well as President and CEO of AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies (formerly Ameihealth Mercy) in Philadelphia PA from 1996 to 2009.
