Biography

Bill Duquette is chief executive officer of Homestead Hospital, a 142-bed community hospital that is part of Baptist Health South Florida, the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in the region. With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, he leads a team of more than 1,200 employees, 400 physicians and 150 volunteers. Prior to being tapped as CEO in 2006, he has served in various administrative positions throughout his 22-year tenure with Homestead Hospital, including vice president of operations, administrative director of laboratory services and performance improvement coordinator. During his leadership, Mr. Duquette has overseen quality improvement initiatives that have made Homestead Hospital a local and national leader for patient care, as recognized with a two-time Top Urban Hospital award by the prestigious Leapfrog Group. Mr. Duquette has also been responsible for the hospital’s compliance with The Joint Commission, accreditation of the laboratory by the College of American Pathologists, and has overseen the development of a strong hospitalist program, consisting of Board-certified internal medicine physicians who care for 85 percent of the patients admitted to Homestead Hospital, in addition to an innovative laborist program.
