Biography

Dr. Omar Amirana, M.D. serves as Senior Vice President of Allied Minds at Allied-Bristol Life Sciences, LLC and Biotectix, LLC. Dr. Amirana serves as the Chief Executive Officer at SciFluor Life Sciences, LLC and Signature Medical. He serves as a Senior Vice President of Life Sciences at Allied Minds plc. He joined the Life Sciences at Allied Minds plc on June, 28, 2011 and previously served as a Managing Director of Life Sciences. Dr. Amirana leads the strategic direction and development of the Life Sciences portfolio. Dr. Amirana serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Biotectix and LuxCath. He was a Co-Founder of CLI Liquidating Corporation. He served senior executive positions in R&D, sales, marketing and business development and as Chief Executive Officer at several life science companies. Prior to joining Allied Minds, Dr. Amirana served as a Partner at Oxford Bioscience Partners for six years, where he focused on medical device and technology investing. He has helped grow and exit several venture backed medical device companies as a Senior Executive or Board Member. He joined Oxford in 2005 as an Investment Manager. Dr. Amirana served as the Head of Corporate Development and Vice President of Business Development for the Cardiology Division at St. Jude Medical Inc, where he concentrated on electrophysiology, interventional cardiology mergers, acquisitions, licenses and peripheral vascular intervention and was also responsible for a 20 person R&D team. While at St. Jude Medical, he also served as a Vice President of Technology and Business Development at Daig Division, Inc., prior to its split. He has held varying operating roles in five startups. Dr. Amirana served as Vice President of Marketing at Medicalogic/Medscape Inc. He has helped raise over $60 million in venture financing and was part of the management team in four startup venture-funded healthcare technology companies, including EP Technologies and MedicaLogic/Medscape. As the Vice President of Marketing at MedicaLogic, Dr. Amirana launched the most successful web-based electronic medical record system ever commercialized. Dr. Amirana co-founded Cardima, Inc. He served there for seven years as a Vice President of Marketing and Business Development and Chief Technical Officer. Prior to that, he co-founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of Resolution Medical. Dr. Amirana co-founded Propel Careers and served as its Chairman. He serves as a Director of Biotectix, LLC. He serves as a Director of Precision Biopsy, LLC. He serves as a Board Observer of Concentric Medical. He serves on the Board of CardioFocus Inc. Dr. Amirana served as a Director of Mitralign, Inc. Flowmedica, Inc., Cambridge Endoscopic Devices, Inc., Coherex Medical, Inc., and SmartPill Corporation. He served as a Member of the Board of Directors at Nfocus Neuromedical, Inc. He serves on Oversight Committee for the Coulter Translational Research Partnership at Columbia University and Ignition Awards Committee at Boston University. Dr. Amirana has an M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.
