Biography

Eric Dunning is general manager of Sociedade Operacional Angola LNG S.A., based in Soyo, Angola. Mr. Dunning began his career as a field engineer with Gulf Oil Corporation and later became a production engineer, evaluating well and field performances in eastern and western Oklahoma. He joined Chevron in 1985 with the merger of Gulf and Standard Oil of California. In 1992, following reservoir engineering assignments in Colorado and Elk Hills, California, he joined Chevron Overseas Petroleum Inc., where he coordinated the formulation of strategies and business plans for Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL). From 1996 to 2000, Mr. Dunning managed CNL’s onshore production operations in the Niger Delta. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Dunning served as operations manager for Chevron Niugini Ltd. in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where safety performance and environmental preservation efforts earned high praise from Chevron, the World Wildlife Fund and Pulitzer Prize winner Dr. Jared Diamond. Following the sale of Chevron’s PNG operations, he was named Kuito Operations superintendent in 2003, and assigned to Cabinda Gulf Oil Company’s Kuito floating production and storage offloading (FPSO) vessel, located offshore Angola. As superintendent, Mr. Dunning was responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and environmentally sound operations. Later, he moved to Kazakhstan where he managed Chevron’s Operational Excellence and Capital Stewardship Organizational Capability (CSOC) deployment for the Eurasia business unit and for the Tengizchevroil joint venture. In 2006, he was named general manager of Strategic Planning and Analysis for Tengizchevroil. In 2008, general manager of Strategy and Planning for Chevron Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production, based in Houston, Texas.  From 2012 to 2015, Mr. Dunning served as the General Manager Wheatstone Development in Australia where he was responsible for effectively managing all aspects of the Wheatstone development including the two train foundation project and any future expansion scope. Mr. Dunning graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering.
