Biography

Apart from academia, Ms Walcott has served as negotiator for Grenada, in the area of FTAA/ competition law and policy in Panama. She served as Barbados’ representative on the OAS Select Committee of experts on Women’s Affairs and was a member of various committees involved in the formulation of policy in Barbados including the Caribbean Law Institute- Securities Committee and the Committee to Review the Securities and Company legislation in Barbados, otherwise known as the Sir Henry Forde Committee. In addition Ms Walcott has served as deputy chairman of the Securities Commission of Barbados and is a former director of the Barbados Central Securities Depository Inc a wholly owned subsidiary of the Securities Exchange of Barbados. A former chairman of the Appeals tribunal of the National Insurance Scheme of Barbados, She currently sits as a director on the board of the Nation Newspaper, a subsidiary of One Caribbean Media.

Research Interest

Ms Walcott has conducted extensive research on the legal framework of the Commonwealth Caribbean with respect to company law, corporate governance, tax and insurance law. Securities Law, Corporate Governance, Institutional Investors, Taxation
