Biography

Letnie Rock joined the Cave Hill Campus as a Lecturer in Social Work in 1999. She is the Coordinator of the Social Work programme and served as Head of the Department of Government, Sociology and Social Work from 2006-2012. She has acted for brief periods as Dean and Deputy Dean Outreach of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Head of the Nita Barrow Unit for Gender and Development Studies, Director of SALISES Cave Hill and the Campus Coordinator, School of Graduate Studies and Research, Cave Hill. Letnie received her tertiary education from the UWI, Cave Hill Campus, the University of Windsor Canada, Antioch University Graduate School and Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, USA. Letnie is the President of the Caribbean Association of Social Work Educators, a member of the North America and Caribbean Association of Schools of Social Work and the Board of Directors of the International Association of Schools of Social Work. She served as the chair the Barbados National Advisory Commission on Education (NACE) from 2008-2013. Letnie has attended numerous workshops and conferences and presented papers at several of these. She has authored four book chapters and several journal articles. Prior to joining UWI she worked in the field of child welfare and as a secondary school teacher.
