Biography

Dr. Wayne Charles-Soverall is working as Senior Lecturer in Public Sector Management in University of the West Indies. He received his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Political Science, University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus. Wayne Charles-Soverall worked in the public sector for over twenty years in several positions including Senior Training Officer, Administrative Officer, Project Officer, Management Development Officer, and Assistant Project Coordinator. Thus, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his teaching, research, and supervision. He holds a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Political Science with a focus on Urban Policy and Administration, and a PhD in Political Science with his thesis examining the Dialectics of Social Debt, Poverty and Human Development. He is a specialist in public sector management theory and practice.

Research Interest

His main research focus is public sector management and the context of his research is the role and contribution of public sector management to national, regional, and global development. His research interests reflect a focus on public sector management theory and practice since the implementation of public policies, programmes, and projects have a direct bearing on national development and sustainable human development outcomes. His current research interests include empowering public sector management, management development and leadership, public sector reforms, the psychological contract in the public sector, public sector entrepreneurship, and ethnic and social tensions. Thus, he is interested in undertaking collaborative research with colleagues who may be researching in any of the aforementioned areas of public sector management development.  He has worked as a consultant in public administration for the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as the CSME Unit, CARICOM Secretariat.
