Directors has appointed Giovanni Caforio, M.D. as chairman of the board, effective May 2, the date of the company’s annual meeting of shareholders. Caforio, who will continue to serve as chief executive officer, will succeed current Chairman Lamberto Andreotti, who has announced his plan to retire.
