Biography
Dr. Harry L. June is the Director of Substance Abuse Research and Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He received his PhD degree at Howard University in physiological psychology and psychopharmacology in 1989. After a long and distinguished career in substance abuse and clinical psychopharmacology research he returned back to Howard University in May 2011. He has served as the Director of Substance Research and Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine from 2006 to 2011. He has also served at Johns Hoskins University and Indiana University- Purdue University at Indianapolis. Dr. Harry L. Research Interest
His research focus has been to investigate comorbidities of alcohol with anxiety, depression, and nicotine. Recently he has focused on investigation of the GABA system as it interacts with the neuroimmune system, in particular the Toll-like receptors, in excessive drinking.
