Biography
Dr. Lance Cassell graduated with honors in 1988 from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science. In 1992, he graduated second in his class with honors from New York Chiropractic College. He practiced as a licensed, New York state chiropractor until 1995 when he began medical school. Dr. Cassell graduated with honors from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1999. In 2000, he completed a one-year internship in internal medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital of Queens. In 2003, he completed a three-year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine through the Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York. He was the chief resident his third year. In 2005, he completed a one-year fellowship in interventional pain medicine in Sarasota, Fla. Dr. Cassell is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in pain medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has an additional board certification in pain medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Cassell is the medical director of the Hip Fracture Program at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. He is affiliated with Sarasota Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital and Doctors Hospital. Dr. Cassell specializes in the treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain and with physical impairments and disabilities secondary to both traumatic and nontraumatic causes. Dr. Cassell's primary goal with each patient is to reduce their suffering and optimize their function via safe multidisciplinary interventions.
