Biography
Romualdo Salcedo was born in 1953, in Porto, Portugal. He did his Chemical Engineering Degree at the University of Porto, Portugal (1975) and his Master (1977) and PhD (1981) degrees at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. He is since 2003 Full Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Porto, and co-founder of Advanced Cyclone Systems, where he is CTO. His mains interests involve research on global optimization and on its application to the optimized design of air pollution control equipment, in particular for the capture of very fine particles using cyclone systems. He is the inventor of the Hurricane and ReCyclone systems.
