Biography
Under Kappel’s leadership, MTS was identified as a high performing organization by HRSA. In 2001, they were the first OPO in the United States to implement in-house organ and tissue procurement, which today includes on-site cardiac catheritization capabilities and CT scanning. In 2006 and 2010 MTS was a winner of the Missouri Quality Award based upon the Baldrige criteria. Kappel also served as the Past Treasurer of UNOS, the Past President of the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations and former President of the Organ Donation and Transplantation Alliance.
