Alan Iacopi

Biography

Mr Alan Iacopi is the Operations Director of the ANFF-Q Griffith University Site and the Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre (QMNC) based at the Queensland Microtechnology Facility (QMF), Griffith University. Before moving to Australia, Alan had over 20 years of international semiconductor industry experience. Positions held included Wafer Fab Senior Process Engineer; Production Equipment Engineering Management—Research, Design and Development; Plasma Etch Division Manager; and European Business Unit Manager for Tokyo Electron. Alan specified and project-managed the build of the QMF in 2005–2006. Alan was the vision behind the creation of the QMF providing industry standard processing technology and enabling research and development device fabrication through to pilot production. He selected and procured equipment and, where necessary, custom designed equipment to bring research capability processing to industry standards. He is the inventor of the patented silicon carbide on silicon epitaxial reactors, and, working with equipment manufacturers, designed and built the flagship equipment at the QMF that gives Griffith University and the ANFF a world leading processing capability for the deposition of silicon carbide onto silicon wafers up to 300 mm in diameter.
