Biography
A Research Fellow in the Centre for Materials and Surface Science (CMSS), Dr Jones provides support to researchers and commercial clients requiring surface analysis of their materials; in particular, by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, time-of-flight secondary-ion mass spectrometry, scanning Auger microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, and contact-angle measurements. He is responsible for facilitating and coordinating access to the centre's surface-analytical instruments by collaborating research and development groups, for conducting analyses for industrial clients, and for providing advice and training on instrument use and data interpretation. He is also responsible for the operation, optimisation, maintenance, and servicing of the centre's instruments and allied resources.
