Biography
Dr. Sherrie L. Perkins, M.D., Ph.D. has been Senior Vice President of Research and Development and Co-Executive Director at ARUP Laboratories, Inc. since July 2013 and serves as its Chief of Clinical Pathology, Section Chief of Hematopathology, Medical Director and Executive Director of ARUP Institute for Clinical & Experimental Pathology. Dr. Perkins served as Co-Executive Director at ARUP Laboratories, Inc. since July 2013. She served as a Consultant of ARUP Laboratories, Inc. and served as its Chief Medical Officer and Director of Laboratories from July 1, 2009 to July 2013. Dr. Perkins served as Medical Director of Hematopathology Laboratory of ARUP Laboratories until July 1, 2009. Dr. Perkins is a Professor of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. She has authored 36 book chapters and 65 referred manuscripts on hematopoietic diseases. Dr. Perkins served as C. Scott and Dorothy E. Watkins Endowed Chair honoring Ernst J. Eichwald, M.D., at the University of Utah School of Medicine from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Perkins is certified in anatomic pathology with a special certification in hematology by the American Board of Pathology. She completed her postdoctoral work while holding the NASA Fellowship Award, National Institutes of Health Fellowship Award, and the American Cancer Society Clinical Oncology Fellowship. She received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Miami and her M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
