Biography
Dr Alan Paul is the Senior Medical Director at AstraZeneca Australia and New Zealand. In this role he is responsible for medical affairs and operations across AstraZeneca’s therapy areas. Alan commenced with AstraZeneca in March 2015. Prior to joining the company Alan worked at CSL Australia where he held the role as Medical Director for CSL’s bio-therapies/plasma therapeutics medical affairs division. Immediately prior to working with CSL, Alan held Associate Medical Director positions with GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer. Alan has broad ranging industry experience, which includes a mixture of leadership, medical affairs and commercial positions. He has an extensive therapeutic background with notable strengths in specialised medicines which include oncology, haematology, virology and vaccines. He has been working in the Australian life science industry for the last decade and is a medical doctor with registration in Australia. Qualifications Alan’s formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Western Australia, is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School.
