Biography
Sabina is National Lead, Mining Performance at KPMG. Sabina is a mining engineer with nearly 30 years’ experience in operational roles and management consulting. Sabina started her mining career in 1987 as the assay clerk at the newly opened Jubilee Mine outside Kalgoorlie before commencing mining studies at WASM a few years later. After graduation Sabina continued her career with Normandy at Golden Crown, Golden Grove, Big Bell, Mt McClure and Bronzewing operations undertaking a range of operations management experience covering both underground and open pit environments before moving to Newcrest for the Telfer Underground Feasibility study. Sabina then joined Momentum Partners, a boutique management consultancy, and subsequently KPMG as part of the acquisition of Momentum Partners in 2014.
Research Interest
Sabina founded and runs Women in Mining and Resources WA (WIMWA) which has grown to nearly 2500 members state-wide since its inception in 2003. In 2015 Sabina was awarded the Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to the mining industry through executive roles in the resources sector, and as a role model and mentor to women.
