Biography
"I am a Consultant Psychologist for Australian Clinical and Forensic Psychology Services, Clinical Psychologist in the Specialist Psychological Service within the Department of Justice WA, and Co-Founder of FreoMind. I have a wealth of clinical experience and knowledge across a variety of settings, including working with children and adolescents, individuals impacted by substance use/dependence and trauma, and those with offending histories. I have worked in various roles as a Youth Worker, Outreach Worker, and Psychologist. I have completed a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, Specialising in Forensic Psychology at Monash University. I also have a Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Distinction and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours 1) from RMIT University. As a clinician I have worked with a broad range of age groups and populations, across diverse settings, focussing on delivering clinical and forensic psychological services. I have worked in residential alcohol and other drug withdrawal units, community health services, forensic mental health hospitals, prisons and juvenile detention facilities, and in court assessment clinics. I am formally trained in a range of CBT-based therapies (CT, ACT, and MBCT) and MI. I also received training in APS, Gatekeeper, ASIST, and safeTALK suicide prevention. I demonstrate considerable expertise in suicide prevention within an array of contexts to complement my breadth of suicide prevention training. As an academic I have worked within tutoring, teaching associate, and research officer roles, attaining a grounded understanding of research-based practice. My research interests involve cross-cultural interactions: I have previously studied the negative mental health effects of perceived racism on Australians of diverse racial backgrounds and my Doctoral research developed an Australian proxy measure of racist attitudes (Racism, Acceptance, and Cultural-Ethnocentrism Scale; RACES)."
