Biography
Dr. Jessica Benthuysen is a Research Scientist in the Sustainable Coastal Ecosystems and Industries in Tropical Australia program.She holds PhD in Physical Oceanography, MIT/WHOI Joint Program, MA, USA in 2010 and BSc Physics (Honors); BSc Applied and Computational Mathematical Sciences, University of Washington, WA, USA in 2004. She is Member of the Australian National Committee for the International Indian Ocean Expedition II (IIOE-2).She investigate the mechanisms by which water is exchanged between the coastal oceans and the deep sea. I use mathematical tools, numerical ocean models, and field observations to understand the underlying ocean physics.
