Biography
In 1997, Dr McPherson completed a Masters Degree investigating the role of TGF-β related growth factors in prostate cancer from Monash University. He went on to receive his PhD from Monash University in 2003 and subsequently took up a position at the Monash Institute of Medical Research at Monash University, where he investigated the role of hormonal regulation in controlling the development of benign and malignant prostate disease; leading to the study of the roles of steroid hormone receptors, particularly estrogen receptors, in prostate development and disease. Dr McPherson joined the APCRC – Q to study the inter-relationship of AR and other nuclear hormone receptors with progesterone in prostate cancer and castrate-resistance.
