Biography
Dr Genevieve Healy is a NHMRC and Heart Foundation funded postdoctoral research fellow at the Cancer Prevention Research Centre in the School of Population Health at the University of Queensland, and an honorary research fellow at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Her PhD research reported some of the first evidence regarding the importance of regularly interrupting sedentary time for heart health. Her current research builds on this work to examine population-level variations in prolonged sedentary time as well as the feasibility and acceptability of reducing this behaviour in key settings, such as the workplace. A fundamental element underpinning all of her work is the use of objective measures of sedentary time. Genevieve was the 2012 Scopus Young Researcher of the Year (Medicine and Medical Sciences) and the 2010 Queensland Young Tall Poppy of the Year.
