Biography
Dr Sara Baratchi is an ARC DECRA and Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at RMIT University. She is interested in the general mechanism of cellular mechanotransduction, including a particular interest in understanding the mechanotransduction of blood flow at the surface of endothelial cells and leukocytes. She would like to identify the key mechanoreceptors that sense shear stress and understand how those molecules interact with each other. Dr Baratchi has published over 30 papers in various peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. She is the recipient of multiple awards and grants including an ARC DECRA (DE170100239), 2016 Emerging Researcher Award from the RMIT’s School of Health and Biomedical Sciences, 2015 RMIT vice-chancellor Postdoctoral Fellowship, 2010 Australian Endeavour Fellowship from the Australian Government, 2009 Coltman Prize from the Deakin University Faculty of Science, and several travel grants.
