Biography
Kang-Yu Peng completed his BSc and MSc at Chang Gung University, Taiwan, before pursuing his PhD at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Melbourne and the Metabolomics Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. His research at the Baker Institute is about the lipidomics of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which involves the lipidomic analyses of both in vitro samples from the rat liver and clinical samples from NAFLD patients at different disease stages. The main goal is to understand the role of lipids in the pathogenesis NAFLD, especially the advancement of simple non-alcoholic fatty liver to the more severe non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
