Biography
Steve is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who is currently undertaking his PhD that is part of a collaborative project between Deakin University and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Steve’s work is looking at the benefits of exercise training during chemotherapy for breast cancer on fitness and heart function. Steve has a particular interest in the role of exercise testing and training for diagnosing and treating the various cardiovascular complications of cancer treatments. Steve completed an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science with Deakin University in 2013, prior to undertaking a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Deakin in 2014–2015. During this period Steve developed a keen interest in the role of exercise training for cancer patients and survivors, and completed an Honours year in 2016 that investigated the negative effects of androgen deprivation therapy for prostate cancer on body fat distribution and cardiometabolic risk.
