Biography
During her undergraduate studies, she realised that research was the first point of gateway to the latest medical applications. Together with her innate sense of curiosity and fascination with science, this allowed her to pursue a career in research within the biomedical field. After graduating from Monash University (Bsc Hons) in 2015, it didn’t take long for her to enrol as a doctorate student at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. She is currently a third year PhD student in the Metabolic and Vascular Physiology Laboratory, under Professor Bronwyn Kingwell and Dr Andrew Carey. She have been working within the diabetes/obesity field throughout her PhD — specifically, pharmacological activation of brown fat in humans. Though there were many research topics in science that captured her attention, her interest in adipose tissue and metabolic diseases spurred her dedication towards her current project. This has given her the opportunity to experience research in both a clinical and laboratory setting, developing her knowledge towards translational research.
