Clair Duffy

Biography

Clair Duffy holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, in French, from the University of Queensland, as well as a Masters in Public and International Law from the University of Melbourne. She is admitted as a barrister in the Supreme Court of Queensland, and a barrister and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Victoria. Clair worked as a federal prosecutor (for the Commonwealth DPP) in Brisbane and Melbourne, prior to taking up a position at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, in Arusha, Tanzania, where she worked first as a judicial advisor, and subsequently as a prosecution appeals counsel. She went on to work for two international human rights organisations (Open Society Justice Initiative, and the International Bar Association) in Phnom Penh, and in The Hague, monitoring the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the International Criminal Court, respectively. After 9 years working internationally, Clair returned to the Gold Coast late in 2014 and is currently working as an international legal consultant and Visiting Scholar in the Faculty of Law, Bond University. She is also tutoring in Criminal Law A.
