Craig Langston

Biography

 Professor Langston joined Bond University in 2008 as Professor of Construction and Facilities Management. Before that he held the inaugural Chair in Construction Management at Deakin University in Geelong, where he developed Australia�s first undergraduate facilities management degree. Previously he pioneered the first fully online courses at the University of Technology, Sydney, comprising a Master of Facility Management and a Doctorate of Facility Management. Professor Langston has made significant contributions to scholarship in the construction industry over the last 25 years. These include four books published by Butterworth-Heinemann and Elsevier, several book chapters, guidelines for life cycle costing practice in Australia developed via a research consultancy with the Public Works Department of NSW, and the production of three software packages used by professional firms and educational institutions. His PhD developed a new approach to the calculation of time equivalence in discounting via the inclusion of affordability considerations linked to predicted changes in living standards. Professor Langston's main area of expertise is life cycle costing, in which he is regarded an international expert. He also researches in areas of asset and facilities management, multi-criteria decision-making and international construction productivity. He was awarded the Bond University Vice-Chancellor's Quality Award for Research Excellence in 2010.
